Our Cadence Story

We are products of Cadence’s ministry.

Elaine joined the Air Force in 2000 and was stationed at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. It was there she met Tim and Rebecca Hawkins at the King’s Arms Hospitality House. The impact the Hawkins had on Elaine transformed her future plans and created a desire to minister through hospitality.

I (Wes) met the Hawkins in a later part of my Air Force career. I also joined the Air Force in 2000 and didn’t make my way to RAF Lakenheath until 2004 long after Elaine was gone. Experiencing the community aspect of the Hawkins ministry changed my heart and life. I too developed a desire to serve people
through hospitality.

As God would have it after three semesters at Moody Bible Institute Elaine came back to England for a summer internship with the Hawkins. I was living next door and preparing for my internship with the Hawkins upon separation from the military six months later. Elaine and I hit it off and spent the summer ministering together and falling in love in a way that redefines the term “missionary dating.”

Now with our history of military service and desire to serve those who serve, it is only a natural fit for us as former Airmen to give back to those we know and love.
